I Love Whippets
I recently re-discovered this gem in an old box of 1970s badges. I remember being given this badge by an old school friend whose family kept and occasionally raced whippets.
Many years later, I've begun to appreciate this badge for other reasons. The slightly off - centred message, the peculiar typography, the simple sentiment, all serve to give it a naïve charm. There's no need for superfluous images of cutesy whippets here.
Its certainly very direct- the message on this badge is unequivocal. With its screaming dayglo green background, it is a loud and brazen declaration of love for whippets. Certainly not to be worn by those who only like whippets a bit. This may be why it’s been in a box for over 30 years.
