Still life with rubber bands
My ink drawings are usually made to inform my collages but also provide me with a more exploratory way of working. Sometimes I draw odd ideas I cannot account for.
Dice and cabbages are objects that recur in my still lives. Here they are joined by rubber bands, fossils (sea urchins) and a jug of beans. In my head, there is an equivalence between the die, the cut cabbage and the sea urchin. This is something to do with their timelessness but perhaps also how these objects represent things that are unbiddable: the future, Nature and the past.
