Le Document — Issue Ten

John Lennon Is Not Dead was an art exhibition at London's Stash Gallery that was a celebration of Lennon’s art and life. The show’s curator, Harry Pye explained the title: “Some people believe you die 3 times. The first time is when your heart stops beating, the second time is when they put you in the ground, and the third time is when everyone stops saying your name. I still turn to John Lennon when I need cheering up or feel in need of inspiration, and because I’m not the only one, I feel it’s reasonable to say: John Lennon is not dead.”

Stephen Micalef: Gives us all some truth

Many regular readers of Le Document will be familiar with the work of Chris Tosic, Leonie Woods and Jo Mamma, there were some award winning and famous name artists in that list and a few surprises. As well as paintings, drawings, prints and sculpture the show also featured several live performances from the likes of; Simon Love, Mikey Georgeson, Angel, Chris Tosic, Adrian Shaw, and Stephen Micalef — a splendid time was had by all.

Issue 10 of Le Document is also something of a tribute to Lennon. We hope Lennon fans will enjoy our, "profile of the month" our "Drawing of the month”, “Painting of the month" and our "Animation of the month" — all of which are linked to the John Lennon Is Not Dead exhibition.

But, (we hope) there is something for everybody.

Our Artist of the Month is Katya Kan who is a post-internet, multi-media artist who explores the themes of childhood, utopia and nostalgia.

Our Pet of the Month is Sweet, a Russian dwarf hamster who belongs to Aurora.

Q & A of the month is with Kim Noble, artist or comedian? you decide.

Plus much, much more … (so much more I decided to do Badge of the Month straight after this editorial to make room for the quirky essay by Peter Suchin on The Postal History of Great Britain and Ireland.) Badge of Peace (above) and Dig It were both made for the John Lennon show. If you missed out getting them at the exhibition, click over to my website and order a set now.

Thank you for your support,

We love you,

Harry and Chris
