Le Document

Welcome back to Le Document, Issue two. It’s been a busy month, we’ve reflected on the state of play in the cultural geo-sphere and got through it unharmed. Le Document had a few social outings; one of which was the Julian Cope gig at the Barbican. He was on top form.
Victoria Miro gallery opened a new exhibition of Stan Gordan’s recent work. Harry Pye, Gordon Beswick and I were there on the opening night and no, we weren’t man-handled off the premises for consuming too much alcohol but one keen admirer was shown the back door before things turned really nasty.
Me and the missus took a sneaky day out to wallow in the Picasso and Paper epic at the Royal Academy. It’s pretty posh in the RA, but what do you expect with ticket prices at that level, but that’s the system we’ve all signed up to!
At a more personal level Harry did some life drawing at the Stash gallery, I’m yet to see the results but he assures me it was legit and all above board. Can’t wait.
I did some serious droning in my cabin at the bottom of the garden. Drugz were not involved, in fact a note for the kids: Just say No! And if you want the honest truth I don’t drink either, I’d almost be classed straight edge if it wasn’t for my age and I can’t work a skate board! No, I was crafting my Frippertronics homage and in the process developing some kind of house band for Le Document. We like slow modal churning audio at high volume levels. If you have anything to offer drop me a line. Talking of which, do subscribe if you have the time or inclination, we’d love to have you onboard.
So enough Le Document antics. What have we got in store for you this month? Well, there’s a Wild Billy Childish interview. A Julian Cope record (and gig) review. A painting from the Wallace Collection selected by Martin Sexton and a beautiful drawing from Gavin Toye. Some regular features such as Badge of the month, Pet of the month and Photo of the month. If you were born under the Aquarius star sign Jo Mama has some enlightening news for you.
Plus our very own resident illustrator, Leonie Woods, was longlisted by the Folio Society for the book illustration competition, see the Guardian write up here. Vote for Leonie in the People’s Choice here.
Obviously there’s much, much, more. Please enjoy everything we have to offer and a big thank you to all our contributors. Until next time.

NB. Oh, Brexit finally happened. Yeah, I feel so relaxed I can actually breathe more easily. Finally, I’m inhaling UK oxygen rather than some heady EU cocktail, blah!. What the hell took us so long? I just can’t wait till the BBC starts re-running old episodes of Till death do us part, Love thy neighbour and On the Buses. Nice work Boris! Tosser.
